Want to shoot your Italian Vetterli but don't want the headache of reloading for the archaic 10.4x47mmR cartridge? This insert can help with that; simply drop a .44 Special into the subcaliber insert and chamber like a standard cartridge. Turned from 4140 alloy steel for a long service life and laser marked for clear identification. Testing has shown that standard CBA .44 Special loads are optimal for use with the insert and the Vetterli locking system along with the standard (30") rifle length barrel. Get that old warhorse out to the range and ring some steel!

You will need masking tape to use this insert. Diction from modern reloaders state that the vast majority of 1870/87 Vetterli’s perform best with .427-.430” diameter bullets, the same used in .44 Special and Magnum. If you have any doubts as to the bore size of your particular rifle, slug and measure it FIRST.

You have to get one!!!!

I never expected to be shooting the old vetterli rifle as much as I am now. It turned a safe queen into a fun plinker, and possibly a venison getter. . Accuracy is pretty amazing for a rifle built in 1877. Proteus armaments, you made me happy!!

Milsurp fan

Ordered a few of these for my vetterlis and they arrived very quickly last night. Did a quick test fitting following the easy instructions that were provided. They fit will in each of my three vetterlis and extracted cleanly - looking forward to taking them to the range
