The Swiss Model 1906 Luger, also known as the Parabellum 1906, was an early refinement of Georg Luger’s original design, incorporating a more robust coil mainspring system in place of the earlier flat spring used in the Model 1900. Adopted by the Swiss military in 1906, it was one of the first widely issued military Lugers and set the standard for subsequent developments, combining the distinctive toggle-lock action with improved reliability and durability. Chambered in 7.65×21mm Parabellum, the Model 1906 served for decades in Swiss service and was produced both by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) and later by Waffenfabrik Bern. The design’s precision machining, ergonomic grip angle, and inherent accuracy helped solidify the Luger’s reputation as one of the most iconic service pistols of the early 20th century. Today, the 1906 Luger is a highly sought-after collectible firearm, especially in Swiss configuration, valued for its early production status, historical importance, and exceptional craftsmanship.
